Reliable evidences? -Different Point-of-view

How might each of people view each event or thing different? - A tree as seen by a biologist, a logger, an environmentalist, a native from Sarawak.

A biologists may think about the stems and cells of the trees and try to figure out what kind of experiments can be done with it and how can you use with the genetic engineering to deal with the cancer.

A logger may think how can he cut the trees in more effective ways and how many trees he need to cut off and what to use it for.

An environmentalist may think how can he/she can protect the environment with the trees and how to protect and conserve the trees.

A native from Sarawak may think of particular memories that has happened near that trees.

Major issues for discussion:
Defamation – harm done to a person’s reputation, and slander (spoken) versus libel (written)
Whether a statement is seen or heard by a third party or parties
Whether the identity of the target is clear
Anonymity – does it make the perpetrator more or less responsible?
Harassment – what does it involve?
Duty to provide a safe work or study environment – what roles do schools and teachers play?
Right to freedom of expression – what limits should be placed on it?
Right to security of person – should people be protected from written or verbal attacks?
Defences and confounding factors – what makes a possibly libellous statement okay?
Truth – when the statement is accurate
Fair comment - a legitimate journalistic intent
“The reasonable person” - how offensive does something have to be before it becomes libellous?

Yu Young Chul

Death Penalty

Death Penalty

Death Penalty should not be abolished. It’s better to have it in the law, so it is legal for in case of emergency, but not actually doing it until very extreme cases like serial murderer.

Sometimes, the extreme cases of murder is increasing in number very quickly. Quite a lot of netizens (Network Citizens- people who are making comments or posting their opinions in the Internet) in South Korea, they totally agree with the death penalty. Many people were totally disagreed with the death penalty before Yu Young Chul has appeared, but after he has arrested, in sudden the crime rate has gone up very high so many of the people gone missing or dead. The most targeted people are children. So, by that, people demand the government to make the death penalty working.

Rarely, the criminal has a mental problem, but not be able to control. Some of them are psychopaths. They usually have medical treatment psychologically, but it is very difficult for general public to be unconcern about him/her to do the criminals. This is because as long as they are psychopaths, they have light sentences and sometimes even it is very difficult for police to deal with them. They are not having a mental problem actually, so they really are very clever. So if they escape, it will be very difficult to get them back to prison.

What if they release afterwards? There is a possibility for them to come out faster. They are clever, so how do you know they realised what they have done or just pretending for get out of prison. They never feel guilty at the first place, they even get extremely high pleasure by that. In my opinion, it is very difficult for them to stop the murder because even they know it is bad things but the pleasure that is once felt, never be forgotten. Then, there are very high risks of killing people again. Arresting them again? For example for Yu Young Chul, he did not have any evidences at all in the first place. That’s why the police couldn’t arrest him until he came to police and saying that he has killed about 30 people for third times. It is almost impossible to arrest them again if they release.

This can not be very understandable if you are not in South Korea right now, but in South Korea and my point-of-view everyday is a nightmare right now because the crime in the primary school are just everyday life now. It is very easy to find the many different articles each day about the rape, kidnapping or murdering children. This is not only for children, targets are even girls, boys, women, men and old people of every age. It is extreme recession, even worse than IMF situation, now. So the criminals are increasing very quickly.

Death Penalty should not be abolished for above reasons. Of course, the death penalty should be done for rarely extreme case, but not abolishing them as long as criminals are getting cleverer and crueler.
